The festive holidays are well and truly over and it's back to work as usual, but unfortunately we probably still have a few reminders lurking around the house, including those red wine stains and drips from the dinner candles on the carpets.

We recently had an inquiry from a customer about a candle wax spill on her cream carpet.   She had tried to clear up the mess, first using an iron and brown paper.  That didn't work! And then she used carpet spotter like 1001 and a lot of other products. Unfortunately this just made the problem even worse.

There are many hints and tips about using salt on a particular type of spill, whilst using white wine another kind and that's before you get onto the consumer household cleaning products, which there are so many to choose from, that it's important not to use the wrong products on carpets.

 If you have any concerns about handling the stain it is best to contact a professional first, they will very often give you advice to deal with the stain yourself.

Ghost Free Real-estate, Stain free too

House Network is clearly a forward thinking enterprise. The Real Estate agency is now offering a Ghost-Free Certification to appease Ghosts, sellers and buyers alike. Now, I don't know about you, but I have, upon occasion felt the feathery draft of a breeze, seen the curtains flutter when the windows were closed and even seen the door close of its own volition. It is possible it was that darn cat though.

Bears need love too

Here at At of Clean we don't just clean rugs and carpets. Every now and then, we're called upon to help a scruffy bear in need. This particular chap (I'm going to called him Geoff), Geoff, came to us with a case of dulling and drabness. He'd been knocking around the house for some time and more often than not, found himself lying on the floor of the little girl's bedroom, sunbathing and generally accumulating dust and muck. So, in stepped Art of Clean.

Please don't be horrified by the plastic bag, that's a professional thing.

Other cuddly entities that have graced us with their presence have gone on to live happy and fruitful lives as toys for second and even third generation children.
