At
Art of Clean we recently received these leather armchairs at our
leather cleaning plant in Cambridge. The chairs had experienced much
bleaching from the sun, which had also dried out leather, and quite a
bit of dirt had built up on the surface of the chairs. So in order to
restore these beautiful old chairs this is the process we had to follow:
The
first step was for our leather cleaning technician to remove lose soil
from the arm chairs, this was done by using a vacuum to get the dirt out
of the corners and folds.
After
this stage the leather was deep cleaned using our
special aniline leather cleaner. After this part of the process the
leather will need to be left for a 12 hour period so that it can dry. We
then coated the leather with a special leather conditioner which helps
it to become supple and pliable again. At this stage it is possible to
see the colour of the leather again.
We
then had to dye the leather chairs, this gave the chairs a uniformed
colour again, they were then left for a further 12 hours before being
protected with a leather protector. Once they were thoroughly dried they
were carefully wrapped in a protective film and delivered back to our
customer. In the photo is one of the chairs in the process of being
refurbished and the other one before any work had been completed.
