Commercial ceramic and porcelain tile cleaning in Cambridge

Art of Clean has been cleaning tile and stone floor for around 10 years. It is very important to identify what type of stone or tile you are dealing with to be able to use the correct products and the correct sealer.
 
What happened during our ceramic tile cleaning process?


1- We inspect your floor: This is to identify any limitations like stain removal, loss of loose grout surrounding surfaces sensitive to cleaning solutions and any other areas that needs consideration before the cleaning starts

2- Dry soil removal: we will remove any dry soil and dirt before any water based cleaning takes place Apply cleaning solution to the floor/wall: This can be by means of sprayer or directly from a container with pre-mixed cleaning solutions

3- Agitation: This is done by means of a rotary cleaning machine or by hand depending on the areas to be cleaned.

4- Rinse: Slurry (Dirt from the floor and cleaning solution mixed together) with our pressurised cleaning equipment. This step allows us to clean areas of your wall or floor that is not reachable with any other form of cleaning (scrubbing)

5- Drying: After the cleaning process has been completed, we will clean up and dry any areas. In cases where stone or tile has a high porosity, drying can take up to 12 hours

6- Impregnation: an impregnator penetrates the grout and acts as a repellent.

Sometimes we have to repeat the cleaning process as described above to ensure optimum results.

Cleaning and Sealing a tiled floor

At Art of Clean we have been busy in and around Cambridge cleaning and sealing tiled floors and we are often asked how to keep your tiles looking clean…

At Art of Clean we know the best ways to keep your tiled and ceramic floors looking in tip-top condition. If your flooring is made from porcelain or ceramic tiles, they will normally have a non-porous surface, which keeps the tiles looking clean.

However this is not the same story for the grout, and it’s usually dirty grout which drives people up the wall. Some of our customers have resorted to using a toothbrush with harsh chemicals, which is not only very labour intensive it also only offers a very short-term solution to the problem. As after about a week of intensive cleaning your tiled floor will probably look worse than it did in the first place. Why? Because you have probably just scrubbed off any remaining sealer and have created microscopic craters in the grout.

Cleaning specialists use special cleaners not available in DIY stores, which are less harmful and abrasive, as they have been designed for a professional finish.

More Terracotta

Here is a Terracotta floor that has been finished in a Topical sealer.

The reason a topical sealer was used in this case was due to the floor bearing a faily low amount of traffic and the sheen will remain for a long while.

Downsides of a topical sealer include:
The sheen wears off after a while
In some cases the sealer can peel from the tile if the tiles where sealed with oil and wax in the past
Future cleaning to the floor will require a lot of work to fully remove the old sealer again before it is re-sealed
